Mr Bennet’s Bride
July 2022 Production
An amateur production by arrangement with Stagescripts Ltd
Written by Emma Wood
Directed by Vicki Castorina
A prequel to Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice, Mr Bennet’s Bride is set 25 years earlier, in the 1780s. The play concerns the ill-suited couple Mr and Mrs Bennet, portrayed with the humour reminiscent of the famous novel, and examines how they met and decided to marry.
Young James Bennet seeks no change to his bachelor lifestyle, but his father has different ideas. Emily Gardener enjoys a frivolous and flirtatious life enabled by her overindulgent mother, but her father has a plan!
This stylish play offers a good plot, clever dialogue and will charm the hearts of the audience.
