Join Elanora Players

History

When a handful of locals joined together in 1966 to provide entertainment for themselves and the young community of Elanora they started not just a movement but a community focal point.

In the intervening years hundreds of members have performed on stage, worked in the many technical and backstage areas and directed.

They have learned new skills, taught them, many going onto professional work, and even more spending a significant part of their life with us.

Good memories and strong friendships are woven into EP’s culture. We hope that you become part our future.

Newsletter

Our newsletter, Playbill will be sent to you regularly. This will let you know the latest goings on of the group. We also have regular social outings; these are also mentioned in Playbill.

Location of Theatre

Plays

Over the years the EP’s have presented hundreds of productions. Most of these have been drama or comedy plays, with a few cabarets, pantomimes and the odd music hall.

EP has ‘open’ readings and auditions for members and any other interested persons to attend. Once a play is cast and a backstage crew is selected, rehearsals start.

Rehearsals take place at the Community Centre on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

If you are thinking of auditioning for a part in a show or as backstage crew make sure you can commit yourself to the designated dates and times for rehearsals and the run of the play. Plays usually consist of a run of 6-7 nights and 3 matinees, depending on the time of year.

Committee

At the Annual General Meeting held in July each year a new committee is elected. We are always looking for fresh faces.

You don’t have to be an actor!

Theatre has many more facets than just acting.

As well as actors, we are constantly looking for people who are interested in being involved with other areas such as:

  • Directing
  • Stage Management
  • Costumes and make up
  • Props
  • Sound and Lights
  • Front of House

The most important thing any member can offer is commitment and a willingness to pitch in and work as a team.
